XRoads Networks has made backing up workstations
and servers simple. Our OBM client assists with selecting which
files are backed up through the EdgeXOS appliance. The appliance
ensures prioritization and link redundancy, even
in the event of a WAN link failure. All data is then distributed
to multiple secure data center sites via an encrypted tunnel.
The
EdgeXOS backup solution is easy to use, simply install
the OBM software on the server or workstation to be backed up
and use the GUI interface to find the files you wish to backup
or schedule for backup. With the ability to connect multiple
paths to the remote data centers, data availability is virtually
guaranteed so local storage is not required. This is a significant
advantage over more expensive appliance-based solutions.
- Backup as Often as Every 15 Minutes
- Data is Compressed Prior to Transfer
- Data is Encrypted During Backup
- Data is Prioritized to Data Center
- Full 99.999% Redundancy for Backup
- Backup Completed with Delta Updates
- Email Confirmation of Backup (if requested)
Each secure data center is linked to the other through
fiber links for fast site-to-site redundancy. Additionally,
each data center includes biometric physical access security,
onsite security management, remote camera monitoring, 100% generator
backup, UPS power backup, A/B power feeds, under-floor cooling,
and onsite 24/7 technical support.
Unique Storage Reliability
With the EdgeXOS platform prioritizing and ensuring cloud
availability, data files can quickly and reliability be transferred
to Global Data Vaults geographically diverse data centers which
are built on a virtual server architecture.
No Single Point of Failure
With EdgeXOS backup solution there is no single point of failure,
from the customers WAN links to the collocated backup servers
every point has built-in redundancy. The EdgeXOS platform itself
can even be configured in HA mode with a secondary EdgeXOS appliance.
Within the data center the architecture includes cluster controllers,
dual paths from servers to disk drivers, multi-path I/O to insure
against a NIC failure, and mirrored (battery-backed) cache for
data protection.
Complete Server Restoration
Business continuity means more than simply backing up data files,
it means ensuring that the customer can resume operations as
quickly as possible. Only the EdgeXOS backup solution incorporates
the server redundancy capabilities to ensure quick service restoration.
- We create a complete backup of each protected server.
- Each server is then converted to a Virtual Machine and
connected to a VLAN matching the customers environment.
- Using a thin Java client, backup is implemented keeping
the customers machine updated to the replica in the data
center.
- The solution al so saves prev ious copies of data enabling
roll-back to multiple different points in time.
- In the event of a loss, the virtual servers are powered
on, and users access their applications via VPN.
Large File Support
The EdgeXOS backup solution seed load and in-file delta technologies
enable backup of large files or large volumes of data to be
completed in a very short period of time. The seed load feature
allows backup of the large volume of data to a local hard drive.
The original file is required to be backed up once only, i.e.
in the first backup job. Subsequently, only the changes within
the file made since the previous backup are necessary to be
backed up.
Versioning & History
You can set your own retention policy for your online server
backup. For example, you might want to keep the history of your
most important data for 90 days or more, but only keep prior
versions of other files for 30 days. The EdgeXOS backup solution
for servers allows you determine how much data to keep and for
how long.
